Stephen   Innes

Librarian/Archivist
University of Auckland Libraries and Learning Services
University of Auckland (New Zealand)

About
Stephen Innes is the Special Collections Manager at the University of Auckland Library and the main contact for access to the Western Pacific Archives. He has over 20 years’ experience managing and developing New Zealand and Pacific-related collections, including archives and manuscripts, in a tertiary education environment. In an earlier role he was heavily involved in personal collecting trips in the Pacific region focusing on official government publications and locally-published material. Stephen has a particular interest in improving access to archival collections, which researchers have always found difficult to use to full effect. Adopting the Archivists’ Toolkit and ArchivesSpace, and developing a finding aids interface, are ways in which he is currently working to enhance access to these complex collections.
