Jaap Timmer is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Macquarie University, Sydney, and a former Senior Fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies, where the groundwork for this book manuscript was established. He has published extensively on religion, history, and sovereignty in Indonesian Papua and the Solomon Islands. His recent research focuses on historicity, cultural heritage, and the concept of cosmic polity among the Asmat people of Papua.
