Jaap Timmer is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Macquarie University in Sydney and a former senior fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies, where the foundations of this book manuscript were laid. He has authored numerous articles on religion, history, and sovereignty in Indonesian Papua and the Solomon Islands. More recently, his research has turned to questions of historicity, heritage, and the notion of cosmic polity among Asmat of Papua.
